Breaking: Russia, China capable of playing greater role in resolving Syria’s economic issues: Lebanese politician
The leader of Lebanon’s Arab Unification Party says Russia and China can play a greater role in resolving Syria’s economic woes, saying the war-torn country cannot settle its economic crisis on its own.
“The two countries (Russia and China) will be able to play a greater role in resolving Syria’s economic woes, so that it emerges from the ongoing crisis it has faced since the war was imposed,” Wiam Wahhab told Press TV.
“Damascus by itself cannot take steps to come out of this economic crisis,” he noted, saying pressures against Syria have been so harsh that no other country would have been able to survive.
Wahhab said Russia has played an important role in the Arab country through its airstrikes against positions of terrorist groups.
He also lauded Iran’s assistance to Syria and the resistance front.
US facilitates Daesh movements in Syria
Elsewhere in the interview, Wahhab told Press TV that the future of terrorism in Syria hinges on the Americans’ presence in the country and their support of terrorist groups.
“The Americans facilitate the movements of terrorists, especially Daesh terrorists in Al Tanf region and some other desert areas,” he said.
The Lebanese politician warned that terrorism is re-emerging in Iraq and Syria, saying terrorists are active in the two Arab countries because the United States wants them to be.
Touching upon the intensification of military maneuvers by the Russian military in Aleppo, Wahhab said the Russians are trying to block the path of oil smuggling by conducting attacks on vehicles engaged in the act.
He highlighted the need to protect Syria’s oil resources from the terrorists and asserted that the Americans should not be allowed to facilitate the smuggling of Syria’s oil.
“Syria’s enemies, including the United States, Europe and some Arab [countries], have always demanded the severance of Syria’s relations with Iran and the resistance front,” he added.
