Breaking: Coronavirus in Iran: New cases below 8,000
Nearly 8,000 new coronavirus cases have been detected in Iran during the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.
According to Tasnim news agency, speaking at a daily press conference on Saturday, Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has surpassed 1,566,000 following the detection of 7,922 new cases since Friday.
Of the new cases detected since yesterday, 472 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.
Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,677 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.
She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 59,409, saying the disease has taken the lives of 68 patients over the past 24 hours.
At least 1,337,877 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman said.
Lari also noted that more than 10,387,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 111 million and the death toll has exceeded 2.46 million.
