Breaking: Iranian spokesman condoles death of Afghan counterpart in terror attack

Iranian Government’s Spokesperson Ali Rabi’ee offered condolences on the death of one of his Afghan counterparts in a roadside bomb explosion in Kabul.

According to Tasnim news agency, in a statement on Monday, Rabi’ee condemned the terrorist attack in Kabul that killed three people, including Zia Wadan, the Spokesman for the National Public Protection Force, a security service under Afghanistan’s Interior Ministry.

Offering his condolences to the Afghan government and people, Rabi’ee bemoaned the fact that assassination attacks have turned into a despicable and unacceptable tool for achieving political purposes.

Terrorism would only contribute to the vicious cycle of insecurity and violence, the Iranian spokesman said, adding, “We assure our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan that we will stand by them in the fight against terrorism, violence and occupation as long as necessary.”

Zia Wadan was among three people killed in a vehicle in a roadside bomb explosion in Kabul on Sunday.

Wadan and his colleagues were killed in morning rush-hour traffic in an eastern part of the capital.

No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

Since November, five journalists have been killed in Afghanistan in targeted killings along with several other prominent figures.

Daesh terrorist group has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks in the capital in recent months, including on educational institutions that killed 50 people, most of them students.
