Online Desk – The death of father-son P. Jayaraj and Jay Fenix due to alleged police harassment in Tamil Nadu has been condemned by many Bollywood celebrities including Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Taapsee Pannu and demanding justice for the victims.
It is noteworthy that the police arrested Jayaraj and Fenix from Satankulam in Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu for violating the lockdown rules .
Both died in a hospital in Kovilpatti on 23 June. The family alleged that the policemen brutally beaten the father and son at the Satanakulam police station, which led to his death.
Priyanka Chopra tweeted that such cruelty makes her angry and the guilty should be punished. She said that I am absolutely shocked, sad and angry from what I am hearing. Such cruelty cannot be done to any human being irrespective of his crime. The guilty should not be left without punishment. We need concrete action.
Priyanka wrote that I cannot even imagine the pain that the suffering family is going through. I pray for them. We should use our collective voice to bring justice to Jayaraj and Phenix.
Kareena said through Instagram that everyone should try to ensure that such an incident does not happen again. He wrote that no matter what the circumstances, such cruelty is unacceptable. As a society, I will continue to speak on this until justice is found and try that such an incident does not happen again.

Strongly criticizing the police, Parineeti Chopra said that it is unthinkable that the system which was made to protect the people turned against them.

It is noteworthy that this incident has created an atmosphere of anger across the country after which 4 policemen including two sub-inspectors were suspended.
