Delhi High Court on Monday acquitted ‘India’s Most Wanted’ anchor and producer Shoaib Ilyasi in the murder case of his wife.

A bench of Justices S Muralidhar and Vinod Goel allowing the appeal of 52-year-old Ilyasi challenging his conviction and life imprisonment in the case said there was no evidence against Ilyasi that points out that he is guilty of the crime.

Earlier Ilyasi was convicted with a life imprisonment by a trial court for murdering his wife Anju 18 years ago. Ilyasi was earlier convicted under IPC section 302 stating he had committed murder and gave it a colour of suicide. The trial court had imposed a fine of Rs 2 Lakh and directed him to compensate Rs 10 lakh to the parents of his deceased wife.
