The Quota reform movement could not be held on Rajshahi University (RU) campus as the leaders and activists of the University BCL has allegedly foiled their movement.
Protesting the attack on the participants of quota reform movement on Dhaka University Campus on Saturday the students of the university seeking quota reform were prepared to hold a pre-scheduled human chain at central library of the campus at 10.00am.
Expressing solidarity with quota reformists, general students of RU boycotted classes and examinations and joint on the program
At one stage of chasing the quota reformist the BCL leaders and activists bet up them with sticks, alleged.
Later, general students was trying to reorganize in front of the university central library for holding scheduled human chain program but BCL men chased and around 7-8 students assaulted. Hence, the BCL leaders and activists hold motor-cycle showdown on campus, spreading a panic in the campus.
Eyewitness said, at around 09.00am of the day some students tried to be gathered in front of the university central library. Meanwhile about 40-50 BCL activists led by its president Golam Kibria and General Secretary Faisal Ahmed Runu chased them with local arms while about 2 students were injured.
Golam Kibria, president of university BCL unit said, “We didn’t chase any quota reformist. We just marched our showdown at the campus. They are trying to create unrest in the campus name of demonstration and trying to paralyze the normal life in the country along with our campus”.

Convener of the quota Reform movement RU chapter Masud Munnaf said, BCL leaders and activists foiled our human chain program by snatching the banner and they bet up 7-8 students along with Arabic 4th year student Ontor and North Bengal University unit convener of the organization Abdullah Shuvo.
They were sent to medical for treatment, he added.
University proctor Professor Dr Luthfor Rahman said, “We have enough alert to protect demonstrators on the campus and addition forces also deployed to avert untoward situation on the campus”.
